'Sushumna Yoga' - Asana, Pranayama and Meditation is her own unique brand of yoga which is carefully worked out after years of experience with inspiring and moving teachers.
Her focus will be on bringing to life "Sushumna Vinyasa flow" that allows practitioners to do asanas as a moving meditation and in the process helps to unleash Kundalini Shakti. The flow is spontaneous and she mixes up the asanas in interesting ways, with the help of inspiring music, always ending with a deep relaxing meditation Yoga nidra. As in Ashtanga - drishti, bandhas, ujjayi breath, vinyasa & counting is always employed.
Her spiritual Guru is Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev from the Isha Foundation outside Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Spending time in his Ashram and doing courses with Sadhguru has helped Sonja to understand her ‘calling’ much better.
Sonja believes that we can never stop learning how to be sound, well-adjusted people, with our soul, mind and body, forever striving for perfect & equal unison. Also, continuous study of yogic texts and yoga philosophy is essential to living a peaceful and harmonious life with our environment and people around us.

Nana is certified by Shri Sheshadri of the Mysore Mandala in Mysore, India and has an M.A. in Psychology from Moscow University. She has lived and worked in China, and is a practitioner and mentor of yoga in India, China and Russia. Nana has learnt and studied a wide range of subjects relating to Yoga and Psychology, including pranayama & meditation, endeavoring to make energy and creativity alive in her, and others around her.
Nana believes that to adapt to a modern lifestyle, much more is required in the teaching of Asanas than merely being knowledgeable and experienced. Inspiration and Co-operation are needed for a high standard to gradually appear, and become a reference point, that both teachers and students can safely rely on. Besides the choice of postures, sequencing is an Art where knowledge is essential to high quality teaching. Nana is a caring and engaging teacher who seeks to always try and adapt to what students hope to find in Yoga through these different styles: Ashtanga Vinyasa, Flow Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Hatha Vinyasa, Power Yoga, Yin Yoga, Sivananda Yoga. She has also developed her own personal approach inspired by Iyengar and Viniyoga, Shadow Yoga, Spinal health and Universal Yoga.
Nana believes clarity matters in all aspects of life i.e: in actions, emotions and thoughts and is essential, but unattainable without a tool like yoga to achieve unity. Nana is joining us just for the teacher trainings this year especially focusing on Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation.

Dr. Abhay Keste
Sushumna is deeply honored to have Dr. Abhay Keste, as guest faculty for our Sushumna Yoga Teacher Training (300+ hrs) - (“A path on the way to rediscovering that we come from Enlightenment”) to teach Iyengar yoga and anatomy lessons to the students. Dr. Keste is a avid disciple of BKS Iyengar, who, after finalizing his Iyengar yoga training at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune, opened Shrikant Yoga Centre in Belgaum. Abhay's aim is to offer instruction and share his knowledge of perfect, holistic health. There are now two Shrikant Yoga Centre's in Karnataka, one of which was inaugurated by the Guruji, BKS Iyengar himself.
The success of Abhay’s centre's can be accredited to his degree in homeopathic medicine and surgery, which enables him to teach yoga with a very strong focus on proper alignment, as well as a phyisiological perspective.
Abhay started his journey on the path of yoga along with his father, who took up a yogic lifestyle himself as a means to improve his health.
Dr. Abhay Keste has always believed that yoga can be a highly effective and powerful source of rejuvenation on the physical, mental and ultimately the spiritual level. He maintains that health is linked to the body-mind connection. Abhay claims that nowadays, we are confronted and threatened by our busy lives and fast paced daily routines, which often tempt our minds to wonder and focus on various external information, while the inner self is discarded. He believes that this leads to imbalance and detachment, manifesting as pathology. It is through this reason that he believes yoga to be the best system to achieve true freedom, serenity and bliss. He also stresses that yoga is universal – every person can use it to their advantage, it is like a free medicine that we always carry with us.
Dr. Keste keeps up with his personal practice under the guidance of Guruji, BKS Iyenger who has visited Shrikant Yoga Centre on occasion, as well. Abhay is a wonderfully joyous person with a radiant smile, kind word and helping hand. And still stands on his head for 105 minutes – practice makes perfect indeed!
"Sushumna offers a healing environment that is extraordinary for the holistic treatment of the mind, body and soul."
